Historia

MASJONQUER has farming and cattle-raising origins dating from the mid 17thC. It is part of the group of stately houses belonging to Vilanant village.

The existence of the village of Vilanant (town of abundance) was first recorded in a document dating from the year 966.

Less than 1km from MASJONQUER you will find the ruins of the Solers Castle which dates back to the end of the 11th or beginning of the12th centuries. This castle belonged to the Soler family, lords of Vilanant.

The Prat-Planas family has owned MASJONQUER for more than 4 decades. It was in the mid 60s when Lluís Prat Torrent and Isabel Planas Oliveras, a couple from Empordà living in Barcelona, acquired this beautiful stately home. Both of them had been born in the neighbouring villages of Lladó and Navata respectively and wanted to turn MASJONQUER into the right place for their children and grandchildren to get to know, love and enjoy their homeland.

For this reason, they created what has been for 40 years an essential meeting point for family and friends with a common passion: Empordà. Lluís Prat Planas inherited the Empordà vocation of his parents. He wanted to turn MASJONQUER into a place where anyone who wants to do so, can enjoy a land which is always surprising and never disappointing.
